How to Create a Mind: The Secret of Human Thought Revealed Ray Kurzweil 2014 This work has historical significance. The author is a true prodigy. The book explores the workings of the brain, spirituality and artificial intelligence. Google scooped up the author (He now works for them at a very high level) after he wrote this.

Important.  Enjoyable read too.
Freedom (TM)

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and highly recommend it.  It describes a future showdown between government by people and government by corporations, and  has a lot of tech appeal.
Hackers – Heroes of the Computer Revolution
Steven Levy
The epitome of Geek-Nerd.  I find this book just as intriguing re-reading it in 2017 as I did 30 years ago.  A computer classic by an established master.
The Inevitable: Understanding the 12 Technological Forces That Will Shape Our Future
Kevin Kelly
This is an entertaining glimpse into the future, by a co-founder of Wired Magazine.
The Animators: A Novel
Kayla Rae Whitaker
A well-crafted look at art, working on what you love, and friendship.  I listened to the Audible version and thoroughly enjoyed it.  There's an interview with the author by the Guardian HERE.
10% Happier
Dan Harris
This should remove any blech response you might still experience regarding mindfulness and meditation.  This is by a guy who lives in the mainstream communication realm (an anchorman with ABC).  He turns out to be pretty smart and I laughed periodically.  His exploration and reporting on this topic is enlightening and useful.  Since he talks well for a living, the audiobook version is good.
A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose
Eckhart Tolle
Mindfulness.  Someone mentioned to me a few years ago that I might want to check it out.  Now I'm mentioning it.  You might want to check it out.  Important book.  An effective key to understanding  individual and collective health of mind.
Waking Up: A Guide to Spirituality Without Religion Sam Harris
Want spiritual health? Don't want religion? Finding meditation elusive?  Check this out.
Just Say NO to Fascism:  A Fable
Mark Frankenberg (yes. me)
A sick country is like a sick person.  A recovering country is like a recovering person.  We can get better.

Steven Kotler and Jamie Wheal
Some things to consider as you manage your individual or collective life and mind in the pursuit of happiness.  Thought - provoking.
Door to Door: The Magnificent, Maddening, Mysterious World of Transportation
Edward Humes
Fascinating and comprehensive look at the circulatory system of our economy: where we are and where we may be going.  I dig this stuff.  Infrastructure.  Mm Hmm.
